- Analysis Summary
- Tunes some non-subscribers’ server streams to a maximum of 1080p at 30 fps with either a 3.5 Mbps or 5 Mbps cap.
- Why It Matters
- The visible quality choice, bandwidth use, and image clarity may differ by guild perk and variant as Discord tests the balance between stability and expected stream quality.
- Detailed Description
- The confirmed condition applies only to users without Nitro in guilds that also lack the intermediate-quality streaming perk.
- All four variants cap the stream at 1080p and 30 fps; variants 1 and 3 use 3.5 Mbps, while variants 2 and 4 use 5 Mbps.
- Variants 1 and 2 also mask the reported quality as 720p in part of the selection flow, whereas variants 3 and 4 apply the cap without that display mask.
- Current Canary's stream-quality calculation and selected-quality reporting both read this setting.
